The Wilderness Downtown

Frank Gonzales makes me angry, because this is literally the art I want to have done. Sigh. I love it.

Through the Looking Glass

I'm going to learn how to paint with oil better, and with a palette knife. Its like looking at the scene through a rainy window or stained glass. Kal Gajoum is super talented, check him out.

I saw Gaetanna Lavoie's art in Blue Canvas magazine while I was waiting for my friend in Coles today. I like it a lot.

Year of the Rabbit

I've started a new painting (by start I mean I have a sketch and a canvas prepared), and there's rabbits in it.
But Ryohei Hase is just bananas.

Digital painting, they're on another level man.

awake and dreaming

Sorry, what was that Eric Fortune?
I could have sworn you just said that these were all watercolour...

Hyper Realism.

I don't know how I feel about hyper realistic painting, because on one hand, holy shit. That must take an unbelievable amount of time, paint and patience; but on the other hand, why take several weeks to make a painting that looks like a really nice photograph, when you could take a couple of hours and make a really nice photograph?

I guess its nice that painters (Damien Loeb, specifically, who did that painting ^, and Alyssa Monks, who did this painting below) appreciate little candid things enough to spend an insane amount of time on them. That didn't used to happen.

I lost my zing.

Victor Wang on the other hand, is all over the zing. His paintings are kinda some of like the scenes in 'What Dreams May Come'. Beautiful.

There's a Bluebird in my heart that wants to get out, but I'm too tough for it.

I just stumbled upon Russ Mills, I really like the way he uses minimal colour and maximal line.

Hello,

This is my first post here, I plan to post things from/inspired by other people, be it my own art or someone elses. If I know who the artist is, I'll be sure to credit them accordingly.

I've been feeling uninspired as of late, so this might be more of a personal inspiration sketchblog than anything else.

But if you somehow stumbled across this page, I hope you see some things you like too.

Emily.
